Mardi Gras

My hubby and I went to Mardi Gras last night...

we had a blast...the bands were great...some
played really good Blues...

Laughed and flirted with my hubby of
23 years...he can still make me laugh so hard!!!

There were peeps everywhere having a good time...

The parade was as exciting as last year...

The crowds yell...Over here, Over here...as
the beautiful floats drive on by...hoping
they will toss you beads.
How did I get so many?...naw..nothing was exposed...
I have a tall husband.

Garden junk

It was a BEAUTIFUL day today here in sunny Florida.
I played with some garden junk...
This stain glass light fixture is used for a bird bath but as you
can see...it's taking care of an air plant.

I found the air plant on the ground one day and tossed it into the
bird bath...it seems to like it there with all the debris.

This was a thrift store find last week...
a huge glass greenhouse?
I hung it on the oak tree and plan to put a candle
inside while we are enjoying our evenings.

I've been trimming, pulling weeds and sowing seeds. It's a perfect time
of year to do this...the mosquito's and humidity aren't so bad.

It was a great 3 day weekend.

Romantic story with cupcakes

HAPPY VALENTINES DAY!
Welcome to our home/porch...

Please sit down and stay awhile...
we have lots going on...

We made red velvet and yellow cupcakes
especially for you.

Help yourself to a few chocolate covered strawberries,
they are very sweet and tasty.

My son made his Valentine Box...
In case you didn't know...it's a Robo-Soldier...can you
find the 5 3D & 5 2D geometric shapes?

Then off to write 20 Sponge Bob Valentine cards...remember
those days, how excited you were to recieve a valentine card? Especially from someone
you liked...you would look extra close to see if they wrote your name
extra nice or if they picked that special card just for you?...hahaha
Ohhh..I will be so sad when he no longer does this at school.

I still love getting Valentines cards! My hubbys
cards are always funny...after 20 years of marriage he can
still make me laugh...or cry....

The reason I write CRY is because a couple of years back I was
having a recurring dream. I am standing knee deep in warm, crystal clear water, holding my skirt
above my knees so it doesnt get wet and wearing a billowy off the shoulder white blouse.
And I kid you not...a huge pirate ship in the background...anyways....
I am all distressed because I've lost my ruby with a diamond in the middle ring in the water!
I am crying because I cannot seem to find it....

I was having this dream soooo many times...I wonder what
it meant????

I mentioned to my hubby that I must have been a pirate wench looking for treasure...hahaha...
because I am crying over a lost ruby/diamond ring.

One Christmas... my handsome and wonderful husband... surprised me with
a beautiful ruby with a diamond in the middle ring...

I cried.

Well, I do hope you had a great time and please come back soon!

Don't forget your goody bag!

Mini greenhouse

I came across this cute little glass dome (25 cents) that had some
dried flowers in it.
I pulled the flowers out and made it into a
mini greenhouse/terrarium.

I am using some damp moss and a hoya cutting.

I made sure my hoya cut had aerial roots...

so that I can bury the roots in the damp moss.

Wait a couple of months and you should
see new growth. I am placing this baby
in my garden window.

I have a couple other terrariums that have been thriving for years...
the growth inside is a tropical jungle.

My yellow rose bush in bloom...the scent is amazing!!

I am linking up to Leigh's Tales from Bloggeritaville for Thrifty Thursday.
Come check out the eye candy.

baskets

I have been on the hunt for some cute Easter baskets...so when I pulled
these babies from under the table at the T.S. I about freaked!
They are Longaberger baskets!! Unpriced Longaberger baskets!
I grabbed them and walked over
to the cashier for a price...
$8.00 for all three? She asked.
Oookay I replied...hahaha

I also found these cute Sterling silver S&P shakers on the
shelf for a buck!

I'd say it was my lucky day...

Happy Day...

Bracelets and Corn Cobs...

Happy Nifty Thrifty Tuesday!!!....I love Tuesdays because I spend some time checking everyone else finds over at Linda's Coastal Charm blog. Go check it out...

I came across this really cool corn cob basket...have been filling it
with Valentine goodies for my friend Amy...but please..sshhhh...it's a surprise...

This lovely iron piece will be going outside in my garden...

When I first enter a T.S. I bee line to the jewelry case...the top
bracelet is gold filled and will be a great charm bracelet. The bottom
bracelet has a locket filled with perfume...I thought it was vintage Avon but couldn't find
a mark anywhere. I love the other two pieces...also a great addition
to a bracelet.

What are your plans for Valentines Day? We usually stay home. Make a nice dinner, set the
table with lots of fun romantic things...we all enjoy it.

Have a great week,
Sylvia
