Wooden boxes

You could tell our afternoon storms were approaching because
it was so humid at the flea market today.
But that didn't stop me from shopping...

This cute little shabby white desk was a great find...

it does need some TLC though.

Today was an all wooden box day!
I couldn't believe my luck when I found
the small red California prune box.
I bought one a couple of weeks ago on etsy and
decided that I wanted another one. The
flea market Gods answered my request I guess...lol

The 1950's Posties soda box was a cool find along with
another coke crate, tool box and General Radio Company box.

Auction treasures

Hello there friends...
It's been a busy... fun week...

I went to an auction at the
Antique Emporium on Thursday.
It's was very exciting, my poor
little ears strained to hear the auctioneer's
rapid speech.
 I previewed the auction items
the day before so I knew what I wanted to
bid on. And as my item came up for bid, my heart rate
accelerated and my hand clenched my auction number...lol.
The cute suitcase was one of my winnings at the auction
and the rest was found at the flea market this morning.

the wooden crate is so cute, I can't decide whether
to keep it or sell it...

Chest out ladies!!! LOL
She was one of my winnings at the auction too.

I had so much fun bidding that I am going again
next week!!

Have a great weekend,
Sylvia

Happy Anniversary

23 years ago today John and I got married.

One of the reasons I married this wonderful
man was because he made me laugh.

And to this day... there is still laughter, smiles and
giggles everyday!

Happy Anniversary Babe!

Cherub fountain

On the way back from Lowe's I
detoured to a garage sale.
(now remember I only carry $5.00 in my wallet for
emergencies like these)
and look what I bought...

3 cherubs on a fountain...

sure the middle cherub has a foot missing

along with other parts missing but
I love, love, love it!
Hubby said he would wire it for
me so that I can acutally have
water running thru it.

Hopefully I will have another cherub fountain
by the end of this month...stay tuned...

Lunar eclipse

How did the lunar eclipse look from your part of the world?
We couldn't see the eclipse here in Florida but the moon is red and beautiful tonight.
This picture was taken at 10:00 p.m. tonight with a
Nikon D3100 looking through binoculars.

Enjoy...

vintage fan, plates and a pillow

It's too hot to be re-finishing furniture in the porch...
so I mosied over to the local flea market.

Was this a sign from the re-finishing gods?
A fan for working outside?

When I saw these plates I did a quick inhale and held
my breath until plates in hand...lol

They have that flow blue look to them but I am
not sure if they are...

The plates are called Sylvia...I mean Sylvan...
another sign?

This pillow drove me NUTS today. I saw it
at my favorite thrift, carried it around while I shopped.
Then at the last minute put it back EVEN after the
cashier came down in price from $10.00 to $8.00!

It's a Catstudio pillow, all hand embroidered  in GREAT
shape. I got home, researched the name and
headed back to buy it.

Re-finish and Re-upholster

When I came across this dresser today
I was immediately drawn to it.
Could it be that it's red

or that every drawer has a lock hardware

or is it this beautiful
dovetail work. I've never
seen dovetail like this before.

I did laugh at their attempt to lock
the top drawer for private reasons.

What ever the reason is who cares.
All I know is it needs re-finishing BAD but....
I so love the color...

My flea find is this cute
Victorian (???) chair for
dirt cheap!
It does need re-upholstering.

You may not hear from me for awhile since
I have 3 projects to start and finish!
ACK!!!

Croquet anyone?

Summer fun...

$6.00 finds

Do you ever have those days when
you come across stuff that you collect
and you barely have any $$ on you?

I had no intentions of buying anything today,
I don't normally carry cash since
I'm a debit card kind of girl.

But when I came across this vintage
suitcase for $5.00...

and this cool heavy, ornate frame
for $1.00...I did what any normal collector girl would do.

I rummaged through the bottom of my purse looking for cash,
(the store does not accept debit or cc), I looked through
EVERY pocket of my purse and wallet, ran out
to the truck to see if any $$ had
appeared within the last 5 minutes.
Luckily the boys weren't with me or I'd
be asking them for $$! LOL

And as luck would have it I found exactly $6.00!!!
A $5.00 bill was neatly tucked away in my wallet and
a $1.00 was in the truck...Yeaaa for me!

I guess I had tucked away the $5.00 for
emergencies like these... haha

What about you?
Have you ever experienced this?

I am linking up to Nifty Thrifty Tuesday
over at Coastal Charm...since I have something to show..

Have a great week,

My jaw dropped when I entered
this beautiful Pond house...

tropical paradise...

lots of bromeliads everywhere
with small water features...

this garden ball looks like
an eyeball peeking through
the orchids and broms.

Lots of greenery everywhere...

Cozy place to rest after some pond work...

love the pots in the pond...

I like that she incorporated lots
of hoyas too...

I will take one of those and that one over there oh
and this one too...

Hope you enjoyed the tour...

Garden/Pond tour...part 2

I am still thinking of Kim's
amazing gardens and ponds...

Where can I find one of these?!?

another little pond....

path that leads to???

Love blue in the garden...

Can you see the mirror on the fence?

mirror, mirror on the fence...

A greenhouse FULL of orchids and

and other plants.

Another cool birdhouse...

How would you like to have this as

your potting shed???
I would...

Ahhhh the grand finale...
