Chippy Glass door

I've done it again...I bought this glass door for $10.00 and it's going in the butterfly garden. I want to paint it bright red but don't want to loose that chippy paint look. Yes, I am working in the butterfly garden now...I lost several plants due to this years frost so alot of plants need to be replaced. It's funny how the good plants die but the weeds live forever.
Have a great Friday....Sylvia

Crocheted charms

My friend Deb was kind enough to make me some crocheted flowers to use as charms. I made earrings and a bracelet out of them....I feel very girly when I wear them...love it!!!  Thanks Deb...

Charm bracelets

Spring Break is over but I still have Spring Fever! I still want to sleep in late, stay up late and not worry about the boys doing their homework. It's a good thing summer vacation is around the corner!!! hahahah   The last couple of days have been filled with trinkets and bracelets. This awesome chunky bracelet was a thrift store find and I added some fun charms...great look I think. (Sorry that the picture is sideways...I don't know how that happened???)  I recently came across this really cool website that sells charms and bracelets, The Charm Cellar....WOWZER...was I in heaven!! All kinds of vintage charms and bracelets...I of course had to purchase this SS double link bracelet...can't have too many bracelets!!hehe. The Charm Cellar, owned and operated by Wanda Fitzgerald...she is located in Orlando Fl.   I can't wait add charms to my new bracelet....
Have a great week,
Sylvia

Secret Garden is DONE!!!

Do you remember the before pictures of my side yard? Ugly huh? It's taken me 6 years to get my secret garden dream completed.....it was fun while doing it, learned lots along the way and I did not encounter one snake while working around the A/C unit...hahaha.  My right hand is still recoving from grouting the stepping stones but I sure had fun doing them! I didn't use edging on the right hand side just installed some iron chippy white fencing that I had. I also had a small metal trellis and decided to glue some blue willow plates to cover that ugly silver post. The plants in the gray pots are Boston Ferns, they are still recovering from our frost....they should look pretty by the entrance.   I still need to install the finials above the posts and so some teeny tiny work...hahaha. Hopefully once the plants are bigger and more established it won't look so bare.  Ohhhh and in case your wondering why I didn't cover up the a/c....it's an old a/c...didn't want to mess or plant anything near that baby just in case.....

Thank you for alll your kind and encouraging words, knowing that someone out there was listening made it all worthwhile.
Hugs....Sylvia

P.S....I have linked up to Show and Tell Friday through My Romantic Home...check it out.
P.S.S.....I have also linked up to Tootsie's Fertilizer Friday....lots of pretty plants to see.

Live and Learn....

Another trip to Lowe's this moring to buy more mulch and a much needed edging material to separate the plants from the path. It all looked so BLAH so I am hoping the edging helps. I really was not to impressed with what Lowe's carried but I did finally agree on a recycled black composite edging....$17.70 a 20ft roll. This is a two person job because it is hard to manuever the edging....so my hubby came to the rescue.   I did buy 6 more bags of eucalyptus mulch but as you can see I need to buy more!

I still need to add more cow manure on the other side, by the a/c. I previously added 1 bag but the soil is still too sandy...the water runs off and the plants are looking a bit wilted. Once that is done I will edge and mulch.

Did you notice that I painted the 4x4 posts? And I think I have the perfect finials for the top but I have to figure out how to attach them. More on that later.

What I learned today was that edging should be placed BEFORE the mulch...live and learn!
