3....2....1...LIFT OFF!!!!

This morning we woke up to the sound of a loud locomotive in our back yard, the plates on the wall were rattling. I looked out the back yard and saw this amazing rocket lifting off into space. What a beautiful Monday morning....ahhhh Life is good in Florida.

There was not way to avoid the telephone wires.

If you look real close there is a star right below the 3rd wire.

Sunday Stroll....

First thing this morning I took a stroll through the garden to see what last nights storm had done to my garden. It wasn't bad except for some pots knocked over but everything looked clean and fresh. The swallow tail butterfly hangs around the Dutchman's pipe vine, she is the only one I have seen around so far.
This is a crinium lily bursting at the seams ready to show her scented flower. I have been thinking of pulling this one since its gotten so big....

It's that time of year when my bromeliad beds go in bloom, its a spectacular show! They were here when we moved into the house 6 years ago. I am so glad I didn't pull them!

Another bromeliad bed under the oak tree, they seem to love being under the oaks. Could it be that they love all the leave debris that they get in the fall from the oaks?

hahaha...another view of the bromeliad bed...love these!

This is one of my oak trees in the back yard, the philodendron sure loves growing up there. I have several oaks growing around my yard. Their leaves make the best compost!I think this bush is called a firecracker bush...not sure though. It's always in bloom and the bees and butterfly's love it.

A swallowtail butterfly in flight.

Butterfly ginger growing by the front door. It has a nice fragrance.

This is hoya that is growing inside my pool lanai.

Pink Princess around my pool area. She's gotten so big!

A bug on my screen porch.

Happy Sunday....

I know its Thursday but I wont be able to post my lovelies tomorrow so I am joining the band wagon and flaunting my flowers today.
Thank you Tootsie Time for a great idea.

Hoyas

Some of my hoyas are in bloom, sorry that I cant provide you with names but with all the hurricanes we've had throughout the years the labels got lost. My hoyas do live outside under oak trees and do get moved closer to the house when we get cold spells during the Florida winter.

Sphinx Moth

Every morning when I let the dog outside to do his business, I hear the sounds of fluttering around my 'Night Blooming Jasmine". So this early morning I ventured outside trying to catch whatever was feeding of my jasmine. This is what I caught with my flash. It zooms around like a hummingbird but it doesn't look like a hummingbird. It is called a Sphinx Moth. Too cool!

Beautiful Mexican Petunia, a very hardy plant around here. Don't you just love the bright purple?

Boo Hoo Breakfast

After dropping the boys off at school, a bunch of us Moms got together at the Barking Gecko for some good food. I went ahead and ordered what is called "The Mess". hahahah As you can see by my full plate, this breakfast has everything. Eggs, jalapenos, cheese, mushrooms, green and red bell peppers, bacon all served un top of hash browns. It was very good and NOOOO...I didn't eat the whole thing. hahahaha We chatted about our kids and their teachers and what are plans are for the year. It was a lot of fun. Then off we went to enjoy our peace and quiet for a few hours.
