Will you be my Valentine?

I can't remember the last time I got a handwritten letter in the mail, let alone a Valentine Card. I entered a valentine swap with Kecia from Lemoncholy's flight of fancy.  Well.....My Valentine from Kecia came today. It brought back memories of exchanging valentine cards with my school mates, writing extra nice and neat for the boy you secretly liked...hehehe. Thank you Kecia....I had a great time hunting for a Valentine from days past...

  

Chocolate and Flowers

Happy Monday my friends....what are you plans for today? Cleaning up after the big Super Bowl party? Finishing the laundry that you put off yesterday? That's me...I have to finish laundry today, should have done it yesterday dang it! hahaha.  But like some other families, we sat down and watched the Super Bowl....we mostly watched it for the commercials but I have to say the game was pretty exciting. We cheered for the Saints and they won!!!   "The Who" was pretty awesome too, I always love to watch the drummers, they have the most funniest facial expressions while they play. hehehe.

Check out these cute heart peeps that I found at Walmart....I put one in my hot chocolate and it was super yummy, made the chocolate creamier. Try it you'll like it.

We did yard work yesterday morning, cleaning up all those dead plants and branches that I lost during the freeze and as I was pulling  and tugging, I noticed my ground orchid in bloom. I love these beauties, they bloom a long time! We also noticed lots of birds around the back yard and wooded area, it sure felt like Spring around here. I wish I would have grabbed my camera because I swear we had at lest 3 different kinds of birds in our backyard.

Super Bowl Taco Dip

One of my favorite blogs is "A Year of Slow Cooking".  Stephanie posted on her blog a really yummy recipe called Taco Dip. Folks this dip is DELISH...and as soon as I finish here I am off to go eat. If interested here is Stephanies recipe.

1 block (8 oz) cream cheese

1 pound velveeta

2 cups jarred salsa

1 (1.25 oz) envelope taco seasoning mix

The Directions.

Use a 4 quart or larger slow cooker. Dump everything in. Cover and cook on low for about 3 hours, or on high for 90 minutes or until the cheeses have fully melted and are heated through. Stir well and serve with your favorite tortilla chips.

Enjoy....

P.S....I cooked it on high for 90 minutes....the family loves it!

********My Trinkets Silver Sunday******************

Happy Silver Sunday...I have a few little trinkets to show you. The first is a SS napkin ring that I found many years ago, it's more of a decoration so it's always displayed somewhere around the house.   My second picture is a silver mirrow with a silver base with very pretty detail, one of my fav's! And the last two pictures is a silver trinket box that belonged to my Mom. I remember that she always had that on her dresser with that same necklace & earrings. One year when I was about 10 years old she let me wear those earrings to school and I ended up loosing them!!!!  I felt so bad and I am sure she was a bit dissapointed but I am glad she passed  her little trinkets on to me. They now sit on my dresser.  I hope you have enjoyed Silver Sunday as much as I did and a big THANK YOU to Beth from Gypsy Fish for hosting such a great event. I look forward to more SS to come.

Beauty and Manly stuff...

I finally managed to edit more Daytona Beach antiquing pictures which I will add on Monday. But I did want to show you those cute little bisque dolls that I fell in love with. They were very expensive at this particular antique shop so I am on the lookout for these little darlings at a lower price. Pretty huh?? 

I also have a funny story to share with you..hehehe....my dear funny hubby came home from work on Friday and I was sitting down waiting for our dinner to finish cooking...anyways....he saw me looking at a Harbor Freight Ad...his comment..."Whattttt???? Your looking at a HF Ad???"     I commented...."Yes....I'd like to go shopping there this weekend for".....pointing my finger to this and that...............he then said...."Cut it out, you're turning me on".......hahahaha. You see I never look at those ads, I throw them away before he gets a chance to look at them.  We did go tonight and it was kind of fun even though the store stinks of rubber, oil and manly stuff.      I better go and figure out what I am going to post for Silver Sunday...

Daytona Beach

Nooooo...not "the" race..... the antique shops! My friend invited me to go thrifting and antiquing in Daytona Beach, how could I say no to that? She is always on the lookout for retro 50's stuff. She met a vendor at Mt. Dora's Rennigers flea market and was invited to visit her shop in Daytona. When we got there, the shop was soooo crowded with junk...you had to step outside to let someone else in...hahaha. We struck out but did visit the antique store across the street. Boy or Boy...was that store catered to her taste...there was retro 50's EVERYWHERE....from bakelite to barkcloth to vintage ties, plates, jewelry...I can go on and on....She was in hog heaven and did buy two really cute barkcloth chairs for her 50's room. Me? What did I buy? Not much there..hahaha...I did find two cute little frozen charlottes and some stone marbles for my boys and that was it! I know...I know...I usually buy more.  BUT...I did find the next thing I want to collect....they are sort of ...kind of...like frozen charlottess but they are little naked ladies...hahahaha. I know...why naked? These little bisque dolls were lounging on sofas, stretched out, tiny cute things but VERY expensive. Most of them were between $100-200.00 in price, made in Germany. Ohhh they were so lovely...so the hunt begins.  Here are some pictures of some shops we visited....Enjoy...
