Ohhhh Nooooo!

An urge came upon me last Friday night.
Mosaic!
To mosaic my little table as I was unsure what
to do with the table top.

I have a huge bin full of broken plates...the prettiest
ones were picked for this project.

This was done at night, in the back porch with
a motion light detector...YES..haha..every few minutes
I would be in complete darkness until
an Elaine dance (from Seinfeld) was
performed by me. lol

I added the grout early, early this morning to beat
the heat and humidity!

Everything was working out great, I brought
the piece inside because the grout was not
drying like I wanted it to.

And as I was wiping the china pieces

this happened!!!!
Ohhhh Nooooo....sh**t, sh**t, sh**t..darn, darn, darn.

The paint peeled from the wetness of the grout,
from me wiping down the china, from the humidity?
Sigh....I don't know....

I am un-decided as to what my next step is...
Should I paint that area a darker color to hid the chip?
Should I sand down the whole little table to give
it that chippy shabby look?
Grrrrrr....I hate it when things like this happen!!!

Sylvia,

That just happened to me today! I had a table all done and was wiping it down and the paint was peeling off. I am now positive it is because of the humidity. I have been painting outside and then brining it in to dry. I sanded the whole top down and left the rest shabbied up. Can't you just touch up the blue paint?

Our humidity is a killer, isn't it? Paint over the spot, then I would sand it around on the edges and other areas and wipe it with a glaze to bring out the distressed areas. You did a wonderful job! Are you putting an acrylic or glass top on it to make it level or is it decorative? Looks great!

UGH! I say just sand parts of the table and give it a shabby look. That mosaic is coming out so pretty. You did a great job.
