Happy Vintage Black Friday

Jill from Gypsy Brocante is still hosting VBF and let me tell you its lots of fun running around the house looking for that special black piece for this week's post. I want to add all my black pieces but have to convince myself to only a few items per week. hehehe
This little black tea pot was given to me by my great aunt many years ago. Every time I look at the pot I think I my "Tia". Tia is Spanish for Aunt. She had the coziest little house and saved every piece of art work that her nephews/nieces & gnephews/gnieces ever gave her. She was the best!

This old fan was found at the Capitol Flea Market in San Jose, CA many years ago. My FIL, the electrician, was kind enough to fix them (more than one) for me.

This picture has been posted before but I felt that I had to share it again because of its uniquiness. The table belongs to my friend and the instant I saw it I felt I had to include it in VBF.

And finally, a hair comb and my mom's old coin purse. One day she was going to throw it away and I snatched it up before you could say Vintage Black Friday!

Thrifty Thursday and French Pumpkins

I've been wanting to post my Thrifty finds for a couple of weeks now but life seems to get in the way. Anyways...Leigh is hosting Thrifty Thursday. Check it out, she has the cutes table menu that I my boys would love!

A couple of pieces that I found this week, the little greenhouse is HEAVY and has thick glass. I am going to paint it but just not sure what color yet. The little black candelabra along with the other Halloween items are perfect for my upcoming Halloween Part on Sat.



Isn't this ugly and pretty as the same time? I immediately picked it up when I saw it was a pink pumpkin. Pink!!! I did google and found Feasting On...gluten free pixels blog where they mention this yummy pumpkin, it's called Brodé Galeux d’Eysines. Translation...embroidered with warts..hahahah. It sounds so much better in french. Feasting On's blog is full of information regarding this pumpkin so I am off to wonder around and maybe write down some of their recipes, the ketchup recipe sounds and looks good!


I am going to admire it for a week or so then it's cooked!

My friends house

My friend and I met about 3 or 4 years ago when I went to her estate sale. I suspected she was into antiques by the items she was selling. One day I had the courage to stop by her house and ask her a question about a piece of jewelry. OKay...I did want to see her antiques too...lol She invited me in and all I could say was WOW, WOW, WOW!!! There was eye candy all around me! As she showed me her beautiful home I couldn't help but be impressed by her knowledge of old pieces of furniture. These pieces of furniture have been lovingly taken care of and preserved for many years.

My friend has this beautiful oil painting in one of the bedrooms. I couldn't stop looking at the detail of the painting.

This cute little table to me looks like its standing on stiletto heels, very cute!



Ohhhhh, every time I see her secretary desk I drool, I have been on the hunt for one of these for a LONG time. I am hoping that I will find one on my next trip to Mt. Dora

When you see this buffet table you cant but help fall in love with it. Its so unusual to me, the detail is absolutely gorgeous

There are two sea monsters at each end of this buffet table, are you drooling yet?

Inside one of her many beautiful china cabinets she has these red and white dishes. I wish I would have taken a picture of the back so that you would know their maker. They are absolutely stunning. Wipe that drool....


This is a bright yellow upholstered chair that has the most beautiful carvings. I did take a picture of the whole chair but unfortunately it did not turn out.

As you walk into my friends house you cant help but notice this HUGE frame hanging on her wall. This frame is at least 3 foot maybe 4 ft tall. You don't need a picture for it because the frame alone is a piece of art.


This pretty lady greets you when you walk into her home.

Here is another chair that caught my attention. It's a chair fit for a Queen don't you think? My friend is in the process of re-upholstering it. I can't wait to see the finished product.

This headboard adorns one of her bedrooms, its her French bedroom set that she's had for many years. I wish I would have taken a picture of the foot board dang it!

Grab your tissues and wipe that drool away because this is another bedroom set in her house, her family must feel XTRA, XTRA special when they sleep over at her house!

My friend has been lovingly organizing her goodies so she has her plate sets sitting untop of her table. I of course spied this beautiful, I know I've used this word lots of times in this post but all her pieces are truly beautiful! Anyways....her beautiful flow blue plate set.
She opened up a tote and very carefully uncovered even MORE flow blue, as you can see she has the set well protected.

This beauty is one of many pretty pieces in her bedroom.

Can you believe that she found this Asian piece at a thrift store? I wish I would have taken a closer shot of the detail..its simply amazing!

When she turned on the lights to show me her chandelier it took my breath away! She is a truly amazing lady that is very independent and likes it that way. Remind me to tell you about the old claw foot tub.....

Stonehenge

My 12 year old has been working on a project that has taken up most of his and our free time for the last two weeks. He said he chose Stonehenge because it seemed it was the easier project to do. HA!...not only did he have to do a two page TYPED paper, now mind you, my son just started typing at the beginning of the school year so that should tell you how fast his typing is. And I don't know about your kids but I have to keep an eagle eye on my son while on the computer. For some unknown reason he went from MS word to U-tube, says he was doing Stonehenge research on U-tube. hahahaha His Stonehenge model was made of Crayola Air Dry Clay. Wow..does that stuff work great, it hardened overnight, even dropped a couple of the pieces on the floor and they never broke! Perfect for kids projects!!! He then used watered down black paint to paint the stones and used Elmer's glue to attach the stones together and to the cardboard.We sure hope he gets an A++++++++++++

The mighty tree

Do you ever go out of your way just to see a pretty garden, an old Victorian house or a beautiful tree? These two trees are my favorite in my little community and every chance I get I stop and admire their beauty.

Happy Birthday to me...

Yesterday was my birthday and after weeks of volunteering at the school, kids sports, kids homework, play dates, etc....I decided to have an Ophelia Day and do exactly what she did. I spent the afternoon doing nothing...Yes ladies...nothing, nada, zip! I read and wasted the whole afternoon away until it was time to pick up the boys from school. Let me tell you....it was so relaxing. I hope to have many more days like these to energize myself.
