A happy picker

My "Cheesehead" friend called me up at the beginning of the week and mentioned that she had 3 free hours everyday to play. Do I want to thrift with her? Dumb question..haha We got together yesterday and today and this is what I found at either our local Flea Market or Thrift Stores.

Can you believe that book was written by Dr.Seuss?

The Seven Lady Godivas was first published in 1939.

What a treasure this was to find among a bunch of books.

Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, Through The Looking Glass
published in 1881. Upon further research of this book, I noticed that the Illustrators last name is mis-spelled on the front cover. It should read Tenniel like it states on the author & illustrator page. Anyone know where I can get more information on this book?

The book is tattered, the front cover is torn off and the back cover is missing.

I picked through the box and having a love for old vintage books I picked this up and asked the owner of the T.S. how much?  She saw how tattered the book was and gave it to me for FREE!!! This is definitely one of my better finds.

Overall I had lots of fun with my friend, even if she's from Wisconsin...lol

How to make rosettes..Trinkets Style

Old tattered vintage doilley

fold it in half

then roll it to a cigar shape

take the right end with your right hand and roll it in, making the bud/center of the flower....
twist the doily with your left hand and keep turning the flower center until

it looks like a rosette.

Glue the end and add a teeny tiny bit of glue here and there to keep it together.

embellish and add the pin to the back.

I played with all kinds of material, trying to find which rosettes were easier to make and the doillies seem easier for me. What do you think?

In the Garden with Balls

What a BALLitiful and cloudy day...sure a bit windy but perfect for gardening. Pulled some weeds, worked on some yard art and took pictures of a hoya and blooming bromeliads. It seems my theme was balls today at my local T.S....wicker and colored glass balls...What am I going to do with the LARGE wicker balls you ask? Wellllll...they might hang in the lanai or out in the butterfly garden. Check out the cute Bee measuring cups, they've been stored away in my cupboards for so long, I must find a spot for them..... I am linking up with Tootsie, Fertilizer Friday/Flaunt Your Flowers and Kecia from Lemoncholy's Flight of Fancy for Flea Market Friday & Cindy from My Romantic Home ...come check out all the pretty blogs full of pretties.

White heart chairs, rose chair...the real McCoy...

A day of chairs for me....found these two lovelies through Craigslist for a steal!!!...$14.00 pr. The seller was a very nice lady with the same taste as mine...one of the chairs does need TLC but nothing that can't be fixed.

A small milk can that sits in my porch.
Yeaaaa...I finally found more seashells to finish the lampshade...I just hope these babies aren't too big...will keep you posted.
Remember that all time favorite thrift store in Cocoa Beach I talked about yesterday?...well I did go back  and found MY chair. I have been on the hunt for years for another chair similar to my dining room chairs. I couldn't believe it when I saw it.  I grabbed it when I saw the low price. $15.00
Some of you know that I love, love, love charm bracelets, especially with big and chunky charms. This was at the same thrift store...a bit more pricier...$40.00 but I didn't care. I was a gonner when I saw the moveable piano, typewriter, spinning wheel and bell charms. Ohhh so worth it to me. I just wish it had a better and bigger clasp. It is Sterling Silver and marked Beau.

I've always admired McCoy...so when I came across this beauty I snatched it up in a heart beat...looks great with my other McCoy planter. Need one more to have a collection.

I finally found a vintage frame for my sons artwork...Doesn't it just make you smile looking at it?

I am linking up to Faded Charm for White Wednesday...lots of eye candy blogs to see.
Suzanne from ColoradoLady has invited me to link up to Vintage Thursday..which starts tonight...so come with me to check out even more vintage eye candy. It's Show and Tell Friday over at My Romatic Home...come see all the beautiful blogs.

Have a great day...

There was lots of vintage finds to be had..from old frames to vintage cake plates, lamps and transfer ware dishes. Ohhh I so look forward in going there again...today maybe? hehe
My Show and Tell for Nifty Thrifty Tuesday with Linda at Coastal Charm is two beautiful Platters from Johnson Brothers..made in England. $8.00 smuckoroos for both!! How about those vintage lipsticks...aren't they so pretty to look at? I instantly fell in love with them and have started yet another collection. The vintage calendar linen, tablecloth and California scarf was also one of my favorite finds. Can you guess when I was born and where I am from? I am a sucker for vintage tablecloths..especially when the price is right! $7.00 for the linens & $13.00 for the lipsticks...ohhh so worth it.
