Let's Mardi AND Garden...

Hello there, I've missed you all....I was not able to blog much last week but I am back baby! It seems this weekend has gone by too fast for me...my dear hubby and I went to Mardi Gras last night and had a ball! I ended up with 99 bead necklaces around my neck....hahahaha...it was a bit too much but it sure did keep me warm!

Being a true gardener that I am...hehehe...I did wake up early....WITH a hangover and worked on my secret garden. I managed to trim the palms and do some rototilling. But it seems the rototiller was more exhausted than I was because the blades just stopped rotating. Dear hubby did promise to fix it but in the mean time me and the hoe are on our own. Yes...it's going to be a slow process.

The rest of the pictures are from our fabulous night last night....it was a wild and crazy night....

Tapestry, paths and mosaics....

Check out my thrift store find this week, a vintage handmade tapestry jacket.....it's heavy, in perfect condition and I so love it! Unfortunately it's a size too small so I can't wear it but I sure can admire it....

The weather is so beautiful today that we cleaned the pool and back porch, getting it ready for spring.....while cleaning.....the side yard once again popped into my head....you see I've been wanting to make the side yard into my secret garden. As you can see by the pictures...it needs lots of tlc. The weeds need to be pulled, a/c covered and the palm needs trimming. The green bush is a Grand Duke jasmine, which I love, love, love, the perfume is out of this world so I have to make the side yard Grand looking....for my Grand Duke..hehehe.  The round and square  pavers against the house were found this summer through craigslist. My family was so helpful in helping me fill the truck with this heavy stones.  Sooooo as I stood there, rolling all sorts of ideas through my head,  I decided to start working on my mosaic path. Here are two that I worked on this afternoon. It's going to be a long project and I'd like to finish it before the heat and humidity sets in.

I like to use old vintage dishes for my mosaic work so keep your fingers crossed that I don't run out of dishes...hahaha...

Have a great weekend....

denim, lace and pink sweaters

Do you ever have those days when you just want to create? My friend Dina and I got together today for some altered couture..hahaha. Nothing fancy mind you....we are beginners in this field...but we did have fun adding our own personalities to our clothes. Dina found this super cute pink sweater at Goodwill for like $2.00 then added lace to the cuffs and changed the buttons to a more funky look, turned out VERY CUTE.
The denim jacket is mine...Goodwill find for $3.00....I wanted to create one of those chiffon flowers that Linda from Robin's Egg Blues ....(check out her giveaway too) created awhile back and wanted to wear it with my denim jacket. A vintage lace doily was used as the background of the flower then I used chiffon petals and tied it together with a vintage rhinestone button. THEN....more vintage lace was sewn on the inside of the cuffs to give it that girly fun look. My thumb is sore from pushing the needle back and forth but I must say that it turned out super cute too!
This super cute vest belongs to Dina's 13 year old daughter. Her daughter is tall, smart and beautiful to boot. She can wear the cutest clothes when she wants to...and with that in mind Dina found this black vest for her. Dina changed out the buttons to add more of a rocker type look and added a soft lace flower with a button in the center.  It will look great on her with her skinny jeans and boots.
We had a lot of fun creating....next comes hats and who knows what else....

Hearts sake....

I have been meaning to join FADED CHARM... White Wednesday but everytime I think about it...it's too late. Soooo with me being kidless at home  this afternoon I managed to take a few photos. The cute poodle box is a little music box that still plays great, I will be filling with lots of little trinkets. The last two pictures is my favorite, well maybe second favortie garden art...a cast iron tub that all 4 of us carried from my neighbors house. She no longer wanted it, was taking too much room and asked me if I was interested. Was I ever!!! hahaha....and I added my wicker heart chair for hearts sake.... Happy Wednesday...

No junk in my trunk...

The trunk was opened today, it's usually opened the week of Valentines Day and filled with lace, pillows or an occasional football from the boys. This beauty was found in California and I was thrilled beyond belief when I opened and saw the inside, original paper and art!!!   I love my trunk and I try not to put junk in my trunk..sorry, couldn't pass that up...hehehehe
