Dumpster save

This beauty is an orchid that I got from my sister-in-law for Christmas...it will
be inside until our hot and humid weather begins again.

Remember this crystal candle holder I found a couple of weeks ago...missing danglys...

Here is the finished product...I added more crystals at various lenghts...love it!

This was a dumpster save...

and now it holds my books...

Love it!

Big plans tonight? We normally stay home, watch
Twilight Zone episodes/ Rock Bands on T.V. with the kids and munch on snacks until...
the New Year.
I'm not going to get all mushy and reflect
on what 2010 meant for us...I am ready to start new beginnings!!

Have the happiest New Year and please stay safe.

I am linking up to Show and Tell Friday over at Cindy's Romantic Home...let's go spend some New Years Eve fun over there...

Guess what??? I have signed up for a Valentine Swap over at Buttons and Lace...I'm so excited!!

Hugs...

TS Chandelier

I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas! My boys woke up around 7:30 am and we opened
our presents at home then we mozied over to my in-laws and had even
MORE fun over there.

My dh has been on Christmas break with us...
I love it because not only do we have family time but he also gets to finish those small
honey do lists. This thrift store chandelier was re-wired and hung last week...I'd say it was my best present!

Man oh man...did we get lucky...we picked up two cement tables by the curb last month
and dh and sons placed it in that perfect spot for me. It seems to be missing the umbrella and
benches but maybe that will come later?? I'd like to mosaic the top...What do you think?

We've been having such a quiet and relaxing time that it's hard to believe that we are
on our second week of Christmas vacation.  Time flies when you are having fun!!

Happy New Year my friends...

Kids, Cookies and Candy

I wish you could have smelled the kitchen earlier...the sweet aroma of
sugar, peanut butter and gingerbread cookies. It was a cozy day with everyone hanging around
the kitchen helping, eating and laughing.

My youngest wanted to decorate a gingerbread house...we bought a kit...not what we expected
in the kit but my son was happy with it.

Lots of bright colorful candy runtz

and pretty sugar coated gumdrops. Of course

little fingers kept popping candy into their mouths
but overall it was a fun day.

Ta-daaaa...my sons creation...

Merry Christmas...

Beautiful lights...

I finally figured out how to add fairy dust to our candy Christmas tree picture. I won't mention how long
it took me to figure it out! lol

A picture of our rotating Christmas tree...thought it turned out
pretty cool. No, it's not turning that fast! lol

Our beautiful moon casting it's glow on us.

Are you all ready for Christmas? Or are you still doing those little
last minute details? My dh and I ventured out in the rain
today and finished OUR little details. All we plan
to do now is bake, relax and sleep late...

Merry Christmas...

Christmas Angel and Apron

I was feeling crafty today...
decided to use the pretty vase Sherry gave me for Christmas, a Christmas ornament and some tulle.

And turn it into a

Christmas Angel...cute huh?

Check out this gorgeous Mrs. Christmas Apron that Joni from Red Couch Recipes
is giving away. Her sister Jacqueline from Purple Chocolat Home made it. Their blogs are full of eye candy,
let's go visit.
I have my fingers and toes crossed, hoping to win this beauty.

Merry Christmas...

Vintage Christmas

Elf's in toy land...found Tyler the elf wrapped up in an old plastic bag
waiting to come home with me...
He now sits proud on top of the piano keys...his bud Brandon sits by the
music box.

Sweet little houses in desperate need of
restoration...

must get silver glitter...

found them in an old beat up box...waiting for someone
to rescue them.

I am linking up with Debra at Common Grounds...Today is Inspiration Friday! Come check it out.

Merry Christmas...

Friendships with gifts...

What a fun day....my bff's and I had our Christmas gift exchange today.
The rules were that all gifts had to be bought at a thrift store, garage sale or flea market. We drew names a couple of months ago so we had plenty time to shop.

Amy received this beautiful basket filled with goodies from Jennifer.

Amy made this beautiful chicken wire frame for Sherry...mannnnn,  too bad that "S" wasn't for Sylvia..haha

I stuffed and stuffed this basket with Amy's favorites..I think she liked it. ;)

This is a funny story...Debbie wanted this cookie house jar from the thrift store but she
kept forgetting to stop by and buy it...so sneaky Dina bought it for her. The surprise on Deb's face was priceless..hahaha

This was a beautiful gift from Amy (yes, we have two Amy's in our group) to Dina...it was Amy's grandmothers little statue. A very special gift for Dina.

Sherry did a great job finding goodies for me...and she thought I would be hard to shop for! ha...
piece of cake....

My other bff Jennifer received a beautiful green FAT glass vase/jar from Deb.
Jen was lucky enough to get her gift early that is why she is not shown with a gift. I will have to get a pic of her carrying that BIG gift.

Later that day, we spent our day with our children...celebrating their school Christmas party.
Oh Happy Day...I have been blessed with some beautiful friends.

Merry Christmas...

Cookies and a Castle

Hola....so much has been happening around here that I am SO ready to start Christmas vacation this week.
I did get to bake about 70 Butterscotch Scotchies for my family last Thursday.

And some for Dina's cookie exchange party Friday night. They were a big hit at my house...did not make it to Monday!!! I keep hearing...where's the cookies? hahaha

A couple of weeks ago we were given Disney tickets by my In-laws (Thanks W&J).
A Fun filled Saturday with the kids is so worth it! The boys are growing up so fast that we really need to
enjoy those special times with them.
As you can see Cinderella's castle is breathtaking during the day....

But at night....Enchanting.
They have a special showing at 6:15 where Cinderellas Fairy Godmother
decorates the castle for her.

Where is my Fairy Godmother?

I hope you all are having a good week.
Stay warm...it's actually going to drop down to the low 30's here!!!
And I live in Florida...

my poor plants....

Decorated candles

You have inspired me...

so I too decorated some candles

found at the Dollar Tree. I used paper and

vintage linen napkins along with

lots of little trinkets here and there.

Have a warm weekend,
Sylvia

Vintage Black Friday..

Being that I am home with housework nothing to do I've decided to play with Jill today.
I found this 50 pound phone at my local thrift shop...way cool..

even has a Bridgeport phone number!

This little beauty was found at Renniger's Extravaganza a couple of weeks ago.

I instantly loved the little case with

a Mom and her precious pretty little girl. Sweet huh?

I am off to the French Cupboard to visit Jill from Gypsy Brocante...I have lots to see.

Happy Vintage Black Friday!!!
