My flowers...Fertilizer Friday...

Orchid flowers

This white tubular flower was given to me a couple of years ago, it's still in the pot because I was told it is an invasive plant...I have no clue as to what her name is but she sure is pretty.

I am linking up to Fertilizer Friday Tootsie Time...check her beautiful blog...she has a gorgeous garden and greenhouse...A True Green thumb!

This turtle has been in my backyard for about a week now...could it be because I throw away all my rotted fruits and veggies in my garden? Should I have it removed by animal control? I know my dog wants it gone!

Bad housekeeper....

Now that school is over life has slowed down a bit and I have more time to catch up on things around the house. NOT!! While cleaning my bedroom this morning I got the urge to go play. Sure enough my partner in crime...Dina... was available so off to the flea market we went. Found lots of sparkly bling to re-purpose and play with during the summer. Housework? What housework!?!

Shiney and Blue

Surprise!!! Was I ever when I polished the spoons that I bought today at Mt. Dora for $1.00 each...you see...the 7 gawdy looking spoons/Fork are Sterling Silver!!! YES...Sterling Silver...my jaw dropped when I looked through the loupe. And here I was going to cut them to make jewelry..hahaha.  I love awesome finds like these. The spoons are resting on a box full of crocheted place mats...9 all together for $5.00. The Blue & White plate and doorknobs were also a buck  and the cute hankies were also a steal for $2.00 each. I did find some cool jewelry but that's for another time. hahaha

How about you, did you find anything at the flea market today?

Hugs...Sylvia

P.S....I am linking up to Debbiedoos loves living in the Carolinas...check it out...pretty cool blog with lots of great and colorful ideas.

Stamp Out Hunger

I'm a little late in posting this but don't forget to leave your donations by the mail box.

ABOUT STAMP OUT HUNGER

On Saturday, May 8th, letter carriers in more than 10,000 communities will collect food items and deliver them to local food banks to help some of the millions of Americans, including an estimated 16.7 million children*, who face hunger every day.

Since 1993, families have donated nearly 1 billion pounds of food to Stamp Out Hunger. You can help make this year our most successful ever.

Simply place bags filled with nonperishable food items like canned meats, fish, soup, juice and vegetables, and pasta, cereal and rice next to your mailbox on Saturday, May 8th.*

Your letter carrier will pick up the bags and deliver them to your local food bank.

Thrifting...

Today was "thrifting day"...again...hahaha...we, Dina, Jen and I ventured into uncharted territory and came across several thrift stores where we all found goodies. I came across the green transferware plate ($2.50), porcelain candlesticks ($2.00) and this beautiful blue carnival glass ($5.00). Earlier in the week I had found the beautiful chintz creamer for $3.00...I can never pass up vintage chintz dishes...can you? A day spent with girlfriends, thrifting and laughing...what a nice way to start the Mother's Day Weekend.

Sea shells and Gumballs...

I was given a basket full of sea shells, they belonged to a dear lady named Erma. Erma passed away last month and her sea shells is all I have from her...to remember the laughter we shared I created this shell mirror without even checking to see if I had enough sea shells...hahaha. Luckily my dear friend Amy had given me a jar full of Sanibel Island shells and I was able to incorporate them in the mirror. Erma was a funny lady...always made you laugh with her quircky comments. I do miss her.

This was today's find at Goodwill for only $5.00...love, love, love it!!
I am hooking up to Nifty Thrifty Tuesdays with Linda at Coastal Charm...check out her blog...its full of eye candy!!!

Happy May Day

Happy May Day!
...I've always wanted to prepare a basket and give it to some unsuspecting friend. This year I committed and made a little basket with homemade boysenberry jam, pretty notecards, a key chain and a small little calendula plant. Now all I have to do is deliver it to my neighbor Charlene without being seen.
I'm so excited....hahahaha
A rose for all my friends out there...
Happy May Day...
