I came across this really cool blog called Gypsy Brocante where Jill is hosting Vintage Black Friday from September 25th to November 27th. All you have to do is post vintage items that are black! How easy is that?

Guess what time it is...yeppers...its Flaunt Your Flowers Fertilizer Friday hosted by Tootsie and her pretty blog. Tootsie's garden is to die for..while mine by humidity, weeds, mosquito's and fire ants. Although I must say that our weather seems a bit cooler now so its not so bad wearing the army boots while gardening...teehee
I was so happy to get home today after two looong weeks of volunteering at my kids school. I was planning to come home and take a quick nap to get rid of the nasty headache I had all morning. As my feet dragged to the front door, I saw that my order from Santa Rosa Garden was here!!!!! This order was placed weeks ago. I ordered a black cordyline, white agapanthus and a Hawaiian Ti plant. The headache and nap was forgotten, headed outside and took care of business.

I am so glad that I did not pull this dead looking branch off my mini orchid because it surprised me with a pretty little yellow flower.

I almost missed my rope hoya in bloom, its tucked away in the back by the oak tree, sitting on a ladder outside and doing very well.

This is a dischidia ruscifolia in bloom, a very hardy plant that hangs outside all year long. The flowers are so teeny tiny.

The colors of this ti plant are so pretty.

This I believe is H. lacunosa with heart shaped dimpled leaves. Some what different from my other one. She is under an oak tree and gets afternoon sun.

I love it when my costus speciosis is in bloom, the flowers are so paper thin and the plant is so tall that its always swaying in the breeze. They say its fragrant but I haven't checked YET.

Ohhhh myyyyy, I sure wish my blog had a scent button because I would like for you to smell this Aloysia Virgata. It smells sooo goood. I have waited patiently for this plant to bloom and the wait was worth it.

Have a great weekend.

Sunday colors

I took a stroll around the lanai this morning and stopped to admire some of the colors on my Pink Princess philodendron. I like that the leaves all vary in color.

This is the first time I've ever seen this hoya bloom, it has an orange color to the flowers.

I was at the big blue box store today and just about had a heart attack. There WAS a $12.00 YLANG YLANG TREE on clearance! YES on clearance....I quickly grabbed it and placed it in my cart! My garden has lots of fragrant plants and this little baby will sure fit in.

hehehehehe...the last couple of days have been funny/crazy. Even though the kids and I always seem to be in a rush due to school or sports we sometimes come across situations that makes us smile or laugh.
Elvis at the local flea market .....An unexpected guest at our front door....

A 3D business card...

During our Labor Day weekend, we drove to Titusville, took a detour to the Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge. It was a warm and beautiful day.

After an hour detour and the kids getting antsy we headed to Playalinda Beach in Canaveral National Seashore.
The view from the beach parking lot looks like there are robots in the distance. That is Kennedy Space Center in Cape Canaveral where the space shuttle and rocket's lift off into space.
The anticipation of walking up the boardwalk gets me all the time.

I slowly exhale as I stand in awe of God's creation.

We boogied, we swam, we jumped to the oncoming was truly a perfect day.

It's raining cats and bunnies...

By the time I got home it was raining so I managed to take a cut of Zingiber Zerumbet..aka..shampoo ginger. If you squeeze the cone a creamy liquid comes out and it smells heavenly. I wish you could smell it.
My son got chosen in his classroom to bring "Snowy" home for the 3 day weekend. Snowy is her name and she is adorably soft. She is one of the classrooms pet and is used to being around a bunch of little 4th grade hands.
Have a great weekend.

Thrifty Thursday

I love thrifting so this Thursday I have decided to join Thrifty Thursday and show you what goodies I found yesterday. Yes...I know my last post is on my found trinkets but I left out a couple of things just for today.

This beauty is a tapestry of a lady sitting on the edge of the boat dangling her legs not caring whether her pretty white shoes get wet. She twirls the umbrella back and forth while daydreaming of love.
Once I saw this wreath it brought back lots of good memories of when we lived in Tracy, California. Every Fall my hubby and I would take the boys to the pumpkin fields in Lathrop. The boys were little so it was always a hoot to watch them go from pumpkin to pumpkin trying to find the BEST one. Once you found your pumpkin you placed it inside the wheelbarrow to haul them back to the main area. After the pumpkin picking we would head to the LARGE corn field maze and try and find are way through...lots of fun and laughter!

Thank you Leigh for a great Thrifty Thursday idea.

My trinket finds

Today I volunteered at my favorite thrift shop and I found some really cool trinkets for my collections. Below is a mini ashtray, it opens up and there is a place for your ashes and cigs. I don't normally buy ashtrays since I don't smoke but I found this to be very interesting.

Another find was these rolls of wire, not sure on their gauge but they will come in handy when I do my beading.

Check out these skull beads, they look to be hand made, these will make an awesome Halloween necklace. super duper mega find are these crucifix's, glass beads and charms. Someone was obviously making rosaries as a hobby. I can't wait to work on my rosary!

Buttons, buttons and more buttons....some big and black ones for Halloween crafts, some with shiny bling and others made of abalone. SWEET!

And finally these really cute earrings, they are too short, I like more dangle in my earrings so I am going to add a bigger jump ring for that extra dangle. I love the soft pink stone.

It's not all fun and games volunteering at the thrift shop, you do get hot, sweaty and tired but it's worth it when you come across really cool trinkets.
Thanks for stopping by and make sure you say "Hi".
