Rejuvenated jewelry...

I want to share some of the pieces of jewelry I have been making over at Dina's house....the first spoon with the face and shoe, I made for my friend Amy..it was her 29th b-day..for the second year in a row...hahahaha..can you guess the theme?
Do you ever make crafts and give them away without keeping one for yourself? Well...Not this time....I made the second spoon for myself... cameos are one of my favorite pieces of jewelry and since I also love to garden I had to combine both...
The third spoon is a gift for my son's 4th grade teacher...it's Teacher appreciation next week and why not give her a beach themed key chain to enjoy while out boating or at the beach...I still need to add the resin though.
The next 5 pictures are key chains made from spoon handles...I used the prettient most ornate handles and attached charms..cute huh?..These will probably be Christmas presents....
And finally...the necklace...the blue heart I've had for years...never knowing what to do with it..until I came across the cameo pin and decided to make a necklace...I attached two small trinkets and there you have it.
Enjoy...
Sylvia

Boysenberry Saturday

Have you ever eaten boysenberries? I remember eating them when I was a child living in Texas...we used to call them "moras" in Spanish. And as I was washing the berries, my mind drifted back to my childhood, the carefree days when Texas weather was nothing to a child running around barefoot eating berries from the tree.    I googled a very simple boysenberry recipe to make jam and boysenberry banana muffins. YES...I did spend most of my Saturday in the kitchen, canning and baking and singing to ABBA's Super Trouper song...love that CD   The jam was easy to make but it took forever to jell up. AND it needs hours to set...so my boys are patiently waiting. As for the muffins...they turned out pretty good considering I am not a big banana muffin fan, made them for my hubby. The recipe looks simple enough but the dry ingredients need to be sifted, then you need to alternate by adding the dry ingredients in 3 additions and banana mixture in 2 additions to the egg mixture...yea...that's what I thought too....way too many steps!!! The muffins won't last by Monday but that's OK since I have more berries in the freezer.
Since I had so much berry juice left over my dear hubby came up with the idea of making boysenberry wine...he added sugar and yeast...so we  HE will see how it tastes after 1 month...hahahah...OHHH...Don't forget about my giveaway ending at the end of the month. All you need to do is leave me a comment, become a follower and you will be in the drawing....good luck.

I am off to clean my nails..they are all purple..hahaha

Have a great weekend,
Sylvia

When trinkets take over....

My family now eats at the kitchen counter...sitting on stools because I have taken over the dining room table! Does it make sense to you to put every little trinket away then having to bring it all out again that very same night? No way....because I find myself creating in the middle of the night when all is quiet and peaceful...sure the light sucks but I have come up with some cute creations. My friend Dina and I are into the steam punk jewelry...we've  been having lots of fun creating...Guess what my youngest son's teacher is getting for teacher appreciation and birthday...yep...altered art and steam punk jewelry.  Enjoy my messy pictures...
Hugs...Sylvia
P.S....check out Swapping Howdies blog for her great black and white giveaway...AND she has a beautiful blog with lots of color...love it!

Spring Giveaway

I'm a little late in posting my Spring giveaway but better late than never..right?  My Spring giveaway is a Victoria Magazine, a handmade fairy door with a cute little glass door knob and a teeny tiny wheel barrel with hoe and pitch fork that the fairies no longer needed. If you are like me and have wanted a fairy door for so long but couldn't seem to pay that much $$...find an old piece of wood, mine was already painted yellow ( the last picture shows the true color), cut a template and trace it onto the wood. DH used a jig saw to cut it out. Then get yourself some small vintage glass door knobs and screw them in place(I did that)..lol  If you are interested in participating in the giveaway just post my first picture on your blog and pass the word and become a follower.

The giveaway ends on April 30th and then I will choose a winner that very same night...this giveaway is open to anyone with a blog anywhere in the world, one entry per person please.  Thank you and have a great week.

Fairy Garden

As we were messing with the snake this afternoon...I noticed a little yellow door by the gate...hmmmmm....who put that there? Not me. As I stepped closer I noticed ferns...stones, amethyst....pebbles...mushrooms...lavendar...violets...and yes...hahaha...a little glass doorknob on the yellow door. I think the fairies were busy this afternoon....they sure did a beautiful job too.
Enjoy....Sylvia

P.S....just a note about the snake..we don't normally mess with wild life but I felt sorry for it because it was stuck in the netting... because of my doing...I DO normally run inside when I hear rustling in the leaves..hahaha

Sssssssorry.....

I'm sorry Mr. Snake for using plastic netting in my garden....I'm sorry for ONLY thinking of my vines twining themselves against the fence and not thinking that you or any other little creatures might get stuck between the holes of that strong, black, plastic netting. Thanks to my knight and shining armors they came to your rescue and cut away the netting so that you can roam the grounds on the OTHER side the canal.
