Lamps and Doll broom

Every time I bring a lamp or two
home my poor dear hubby
groans. Another project for him...

BUT not this time!!!

I took the lamps apart, took
the old hardware pieces with me to Lowe's,
compared and bought what was needed.

Then I re-wired one (with my hubby as a supervisor) and
had my oldest son do the other (he has to learn too!).

With  practice, I won't need hubby as a supervisor anymore.
Yay for him!!!

 I haven't found that "right"
lampshade yet...maybe
I need smaller bulbs?

As you can see I used
a lot of crystals
 for these two...so my
stash is running looowwwww.

I giggled when I saw this cute
doll broom. Her body language
reminded me of...ME...

Lately
this blogger has been a bit snippy
around here and I totally blame
it on the heat!!

Ohhhh I almost forgot to mention...the black book is a 1925 pathology book...
so perfect for Halloween don't you think?

Monogrammed, singer and longhorns.

Two sewing machines in one
week..SCORE!!

This singer has a tag dated
1964...serial # AE875562,

 I placed all the accessories
in a ziploc bag.
A giddy feeling came over me when
I spied these linen napkins...they all
are monogrammed with the
letter "S"...yay for me!
Yes...they need a touch of  BIZ!!

The cast iron vintage light fixtures
are so shabby chic...
Hmmmm...I might have to see if they fit
in my decor first.

Have you noticed the
crates are coming out of hiding?
Or is it that I never noticed them
before?
Couldn't pass up them longhorns!!

All(except the linens) will be in my little shop
at the Antiques Emporium.

Happy Thrifting...

Curbside finds

I do brake for junk!
As I was driving by my neighbor Diana's
house, I had to reverse my truck because
she had two beautiful,
mirrors by the curb!

 This is one of them...
thankfully the frame was
still intact.

But it does have several
designs in the frame missing.
The other mirror's frame came apart
from being stored outside in a wooden shed.

She was surprised that I still wanted them...haha..
of course I had to tell her that I love
anything old and chippy.

That's when she offered me her
Domestic sewing machine.

It too was in the shed
but in fairly good
condition.
 She wouldn't take any
$$, said she was
 about to put the machine
by the curb too. (yikes!)

 Everything is there,
I can't wait to clean her up!!!

A fun class has been added
to my project plate..learning
how to texture my pictures.

I signed up for Kim Klassen's
and today's theme
was PINK.

Even though I am still
a newbie,
it was lots of fun creating the textured
picture.
I am also taking her FREE skinny-mini course...YES....FREE...check it out.

Mosaic Table

I have a habit of buying small pieces of
furniture that are in dire need of
TLC!!!  That is not good...
because I keep adding projects
to my plate.

Would you buy this at a thrift store?
I have sucker written on my forehead...haha

"Oh yea...I can repair this, it shouldn't take that
much of my time"...again, no friends with me to
hit me on the head and say ARE YOU CRAZY?

After several weeks of repair, painting,
mosaic work, fixing paint chips..and not to
mention fighting the Florida heat and humidity
It's done!!

It's being dropped of TODAY at the Antiques Emporium,
it's been hanging around here for waaaayyy dang long!

I wish I could remember the name of the paint colors.
They were Lowe's Valspar samples of a Turquoise color and dry brushed
with a grey color. Then I polished it with Minwax Paste finishing wax in a
natural color.
Have any of you found the Minwax Paste dark finishing wax? I've been to several
stores around here and NADA...

as those ladies there but what the heck...it'll be fun.

Flea market finds

Flea markets are great fun,
the thrill of the hunt and never
knowing what you will come across.

Even though my 2 local flea markets are
minute in size they still have those "Oh MY GOSH"
finds.

Can you believe I almost passed on this
demijohn? Yes, crazy me walked away with the
thought of checking out the rest of the
flea goodies.
There was no one with me to whack me on the head and
say Duh!!!

After taking in the rest of the flea
I walked back and bought it!!
The cute wire basket, wooden corbels and
wooden shoe shape holder
also came home with me.

The two vintage mottled grey enamelware
dutch ovens will fit in perfect with my
garden decor.

Did you find any goodies this week?

Have a great rest of the week,

was scrapped off...

and sanded down.

hooks are hard to find around here!!)

Ohhhh Nooooo!

An urge came upon me last Friday night.
Mosaic!
To mosaic my little table as I was unsure what
to do with the table top.

I have a huge bin full of broken plates...the prettiest
ones were picked for this project.

This was done at night, in the back porch with
a motion light detector...YES..haha..every few minutes
I would be in complete darkness until
an Elaine dance (from Seinfeld) was
performed by me. lol

I added the grout early, early this morning to beat
the heat and humidity!

Everything was working out great, I brought
the piece inside because the grout was not
drying like I wanted it to.

And as I was wiping the china pieces

this happened!!!!
Ohhhh Nooooo....sh**t, sh**t, sh**t..darn, darn, darn.

The paint peeled from the wetness of the grout,
from me wiping down the china, from the humidity?
Sigh....I don't know....

I am un-decided as to what my next step is...
Should I paint that area a darker color to hid the chip?
Should I sand down the whole little table to give
it that chippy shabby look?
Grrrrrr....I hate it when things like this happen!!!
