Just a tilling....

My husband asked me this morning if I wanted to go to Lowe's with him...........to me that's like asking if I want to go antiquing!  I've been wanting a shephards hook for a really cool looking birdcage (which I will show later when the secret garden is finished) so I gladly accepted his invite. When we got there we walked over to the lawn mower section, wondering why he was going into that section? But as he passed by them my heart started to go pitter patter...could it be? Would he? Yessssss.....he bought me a rototiller (Troy-Bilt Corded Cultivator Item #: 139051 Model #: TB154 )

....an electric one that works like a dream!!! I highly recommend this one, no loud noises, easy to start and no gas or oil to deal with!
Sooooo, after I danced and tilled the soil I rolled out some weed control forgetting that I still needed to ammend the soil where I was going to place my plants. Another run to Lowe's for some cow manure....love that stuff...works great! I did till the compost to make sure all was well blended.  I finally finished putting down the weed block...yes I do have two different weed blocks because that was what I had laying around. It should still work right?
While I was in the middle of rototilling I kept seeing movement from the corner of my eye...I figured it was just the anoles  moving around so I didn't bother to check.  Much later when I was picking up my tools, leftover twigs and rocks I noticed these teeny tiny garden tools by the gate. Hmmmm.. I don't remember seeing or buying teeny tools and as I glanced closer there was also a teeny tiny wheel barrel right next to the tiny tools.  ????????????? Was there something out there also working on my secret garden? I glanced around but nothing in sight....I did leave the tools there...wondering if I would see them again?

My first yard art for the secret garden is this oil funnel that I found at a thrift store. I had seen and loved the oil funnels in the new Flea Market Magazine and when I spotted this baby at the thrift shop I HAD to get it. I planted some cosmos and dianthus inside...it looks really cute I think.

I am now on the hunt for some rubber or chocolate scented mulch...so I am off to go surfing....Have a great week.

Hugs......Sylvia

What tiller did you end up getting, the brand and model number ?

If you find the rubber mulch, please post, I've been looking for that also.

Can't wait to see your completed secret garden.

Sylvia, I cannot believe that you are already working in your garden. Here in Luxembourg, winter doesn't want to leave us yet. This morning temperature was again below 0°C.

Sylvia amork, a secret garden! I have always planned on doing that with my girls...I wish I had an area the size of yours...unfortunately for me, although others might disagree, our yard is HUGE, on the verge of overwhelming...so trying to make a small one is even overwhelming lol that and the fact that it has rained so much here in Ca...the grass & weeds in the back are probably about as tall as me right now lol :) I think I might have to stop visiting your blog...you keep showing things that I want :) I love, love those lil gardening tools...you wouldn't be intresting in selling them would you or even trading :) Hey I figure it doesn't hurt to ask lol I love lil things...Besos, Rose
